Outside Made Simple Workshop Series: Backpack Design #3
Saturday tickets no longer available but Sunday tickets are!
We have added two new Backpack Design workshops to our "Outside Made Simple Workshop Series," for anyone who wasn't able to make the last one! The series aims to teach skills that help and inspire folks to get outside and enjoy the outdoors. For this event, Alite Founder and Creative Director, Tae Kim will lead two backpack design workshops Saturday 12/8 and Sunday 12/9. Get your ticket on the Eventbrite page.
This small hands-on workshop will guide you through the history of backpack design, pattern making basics, and sewing techniques while you produce your own backpack. This is a unique opportunity to spend the day with the founder of Alite Designs and pick his brain on anything from design topics to starting a business. The smaller workshop size will ensure each of you get a lot of individual attention. You'll leave the workshop with new backpack making skills and a pack of your own.
No supplies, tools, or previous sewing experience required. All supplies will be provided in Alite's Sewing Workshop in the Mission. Workshop class size is limited. Please email email@example.com for any questions.
Alite's celebrated Made in California bags are made from locally sourced canvas and leather. You'll get a chance to work with these beautiful raw materials to create your own Alite Bike to Beach Bag ($175 Value).
Check out this video of our team creating Bike to the Beach Bags for a preview of what you'll learn in the workshop!
Here's a peek into our design studio and a preview of the skills you'll be learning. Get excited to get hands on with some beautiful raw materials with Tae at the workshop.
Get an introduction to the basics of pattern making using the template for our Bike 2 Beach bag this Saturday and Sunday. You'll get the opportunity to work with the tools and materials we use regularly in our design studio!
Our founder Tae Kim has been creating new designs for 10 years with Alite, and many years before that with The North Face and Boreas Gear. He learned to sew from his mom and studied product design at Stanford University. Imagine all the knowledge he has accumulated in his man bun topped head that he would love to share with you!
The feeling of completing a handcrafted project is one of the most satisfying, and you'll be able to explain the design process when you get compliments on your new Bike 2 Beach bag! It also makes a really great and thoughtful gift.
