Summer is a great time for having fun outdoor adventures. It’s also a really great time for kicking back with your friends and throwing back some delicious and refreshingly cold “Park Days” cocktails together.

Our mixologist and fellow outdoor lover friends at Wild Craft CA like to get creative when it comes to mixing up adult beverages. They’ve been inspired by all the fresh mint shooting up every where these days and concocted this light and easy sipper that’s perfect for an afternoon in the park or for standing around the BBQ.

The “Park Days” recipe uses vodka for its boozy base but gin works as a good substitute for you gin-lovers out there. The key to success here is the fresh ingredients. Blueberries and mint make for a subtly sweet taste that’s everything you want in a cocktail. They recommend using the family-owned, locally made Hanson of Sonoma grape based vodka. Mixed with crisp, classic Dolin Dry Vermouth, these two create a perfect base for the addition of fresh mint, blueberries and lemon. Muddle, mix, pour, enjoy, and repeat!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1.5 oz Vodka (or Gin)
  • .5 oz Bianco Vermouth
  • .75 oz Lemon
  • .5 oz Simple Syrup
  • 6 blueberries
  • 3 mint leaves

STEPS TO SUCCESS

  • Grab your cocktail shaker and muddle a small handful of blueberries in the bottom to break them open and let all that delicious flavor out.
  • Next comes the fresh mint leaves, lay them flat on your palm and give them a good slap!
  • Slapping the mint releases the oils from the leaves and allows the flavor to really shine.
  • Now its time to add all the remaining ingredients and top it off with a good handful of ice.
  • Give the shaker your best shake, everyone has their own style have fun creating yours!
  • Shake until you hear the consistency of the liquid change in the shaker or about 10-15 seconds of shaking.
  • Strain your refreshing concoction over ice and garnish with some lemon, mint, and any berries you may have left over.
  • Simple Syrup: You can make your own simple syrup by simply putting equal parts sugar and water into a sauce pan over med heat until the sugar has completely dissolved. Stir, remove from heat, and let cool before use. This can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
