Golden Gate Park - Bison Paddock

Golden Gate Park - Bison Paddock

These dudes (the bison, that is) want you to come say hello. Jump on your bike and rip through Golden Gate Park to visit the Bison Paddock and you could earn your Bike Activity merit patch for the #AliteFreshAirClub.

Bison have been chilling in this area since the 1890's and stand as a symbol of the Wild West mentality. You can find the Bison Paddock on John F. Kennedy Drive right by Spreckels Lake, where you should also make time to stop to enjoy a picnic snack time.

Highlights:

  • Fresh Air Club (FAC) Approved to earn your Bike merit patch.
  • Within a mile of the Conservatory of Flowers, the Academy of Sciences, the Casting Ponds, and the San Francisco Lawn Bowling Club.
  • FYI - when the buffalos tail is slightly raised, it means the bison is mildly excited.
  • We suggest biking to Ocean Beach after and tossin' back a cold one.
